Change fan speed laptop8/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Smaller fans do not move as much air as a bigger fan and must go faster when the computer is getting hot. The reason you are more likely to encounter this situation with laptop computers is because their fans are smaller. If the fan is not taking out enough of the hot air or bringing in enough cool air, the fan speed needs to be increased to help prevent any damage. Each thing you do on your computer causes your processor, graphics card, and other devices in your computer to work, which generates heat. In most cases, the fan speeds up when doing something intensive, such as playing games. To help reduce noise from the system, most manufacturers today use variable speed fans, which means they can change their speed depending on the computer's temperature. As long as the fan continues to spin and does not completely stop, this is completely normal for computers, especially laptop computers. Green: (can be many different things, but, it is the fan speed) 0- infiniti, PWM A0-F9 This is the fan speed, if your running a laptop, setting it to a high number, and hitting R, will tell you your max fan speed, (if its a high number like 100,000, the fan shouldn't run that fast, the fan has limiter on its speed. While working on your computer, you may notice the fan inside the computer speeding up and slowing down, often getting louder and quieter as it changes speeds. ![]()
